(1) Simply put, this is the best-designed piece of cookware you will ever use. Chicken fryer, dutch oven, skillet… use your imagination. The ‘bottom’ half is an excellent deep sauce pan in which you can make a decent sized batch of spaghetti sauce or chili, the ‘top’ half is a perfectly proportioned skillet. The sides are high enough and have a slight curve so that you can use it as a saute pan and low enough to serve as a griddle. I only have a small hot-plate in my apartment and I use this combo as a stove-top oven. Skillet-side down, it makes great baked chicken, deep side down it makes pot-roast. I couldn’t be happier.

(2) My niece and daughter are great cooks and have a variety of cookware – All Clad, Calphalon, etc. However overtime – their cookware has not worn as well — they both have children and do not have time to “baby” the pots and pans. I purchased a number of cast iron cookware pieces for them — they are raving about this cookware. Heavy, great heat distribution, easy to clean and care for. So far the cast iron cookware is beating out the competition in value and function. We are purchasing sets for ourselves and also for our other children.

(3) I have this cooker for over a month now. When I first received the cooker, I was really excited and used it right out of the box to cook eggs and fried rice. It was disastrous as everything stuck to the pan. After much scrubbing to get it clean, I heated the pan and coated it with oil. I could have reseasoned it but was too lazy. I blamed this incident on my inexperience with cast iron pans. Subsequently, I only stir fry vegetables with it and repeat the wash and coat with oil each time. After 2-3 weeks, I could fry an egg on it and it wouldn’t get stuck anymore. Now, after a month, my fried rice comes off perfectly. So, if you will have patience to get it to season, this is a great pan.
No more worries about burning off teflon coatings. The heat retention is great and stir fry vegetables taste much better than other pans. I really love the pan now and know that this pan will last for a long time.
