(1) It is amazing how many bad trash cans there are. We have tried before those “no hands” automatic ones. What a waste of money. This trash can looks nice and actually does what it is supposed to. Also the way you put the plastic bag inside works a lot better than the rest.
(2) This OXO can is beautiful in design and function. It is extremely well made. It opens quietly and reliably. The only feature I would add if I were manufacturing it would be casters, to increase its mobility. In fact, I added that feature to my own can. I cut two pieces of melamine and attached them together, one on the inside of the bottom of the can and the other on the outside of the bottom, then attached casters to the bottom. This was a fair amount of work and the manufacturer could have more easily built this feature into the design. I suppose they did not do so because their demand vs. cost calculation did not justify building it.
