These wheels are crafted in the USA by Norton a long time leader in sharpening stones. These interlocking diamond wheels sharpen both sides of the knife at the same time quickly with minimal effort. The unit assures equal treatment of both sides of the knife blade for a true uniform edge. The Wusthof sharpener has two settings. The initial setting is for coarse grinding of nicked or damaged blades. The fine setting will easily restore you to a factory edge.

(1) Most sharpeners have a series of steps to sharpen the knives. The Wusthof sharpener is easy. I hardly ever use the coarse slot unless I chip the edge of one of my knives. It is usually just 3 pulls through the fine slot and your ready to go. I was told that Wusthof uses a narrow cutting angle with their diamond wheels so it puts on a very sharp edge. A freind of mine sharpened his shun knives on this sharpener and was very happy with the results. I love to keep my knives sharp and this is very simple and works wonderfully.
