(1) Our large lawn, about an acre, has many gardens and trees. Trimming with a gas 2 cycle has been a real chore, esp. since it is a challenge to start. This cordless electric is terrific, light weight and a pleasure to use. The second battery is very helpful as it takes me about 30 minutes to trim. One battery lasts 20 minutes. Also, it is quite light, and of course you can turn it off as you walk from area to area. I would definitely recommend this trimmer over a gas model, for home use
(2) It get’s the job done - quite powerful. I used it for about 20 minutes and the battery was still ok. Did not even use the second battery.
But the main selling point for me: I also got the hedge trimmer from B&D which uses the same battery and now I have 3 batteries which is more than enough. I also thought of buying a B&D cordless electric blower which uses the same battery but electric cordless blowers are apparently too weak to blow the leaves from the grass-areas. Bummer. Otherwise, if you want everything electric AND cordless, it is a good strategy to buy this trimmer and get “synergies” from buying other tools with compatible 18v batteries.
