Worked very well; perfect for “one bag” travels, 
I have become converted to one bag traveling. Checking bags at airports has become costly and inconvenient, so I have gradually learned how to travel with just one bag that is small enough to fit in the overhead compartments of regular US jets and also commuter jets that fly to smaller cities. The 45 linear inches that work for the big planes don’t work for the commuter jets. One needs a smaller bag for those — generally more like 42 linear inches. And the weight of a bag is also critical.
Generally a person will not be comfortable carrying a bag much more than 10% – 15% (max) of their body weight if they have to do a lot of walking to the gate or from the car to the room. So learning to pack your bag and monitor the weight becomes important. That is where a luggage scale comes in handy.
Before I bought this Balanzza Digital Luggage Scale 100lb I weighed bags by getting on a bathroom scale, noting the weight, and then getting back on holding the suitcase. In the process I managed to wrench my back, because the posture one needs while holding a bag and also looking at the scale results is rather awkward.
This device has a loop that unbuckles and attaches to the handle of the suitcase. Simply lift the bag by the device and in a few seconds a beep notifies you that you have weighed your suitcase.
Should you wear your hiking boots and pack your dress shoes, or vice versa? Just try both and use the scale. Wear the jeans or the khaki’s? Take flip flops or crocs? Use the scale and find out.
Perhaps others don’t need such a device but we have found it very helpful in making sure we don’t overpack.
